Date: 4 October 2025 @ 13:00 - 17:00

Timezone: Amsterdam

Leiden University is participating in the Weekend of Science on Saturday 4 October. Anyone aged from 8 to 99 is welcome to visit our Wijnhaven building in the centre of The Hague between 13:00 and 17:00.

Discover how science works, why professors conduct research and how their work helps tackle challenges big and small.

Leiden University and partners

We’re not doing this by ourselves. During the Weekend of Science, we’re teaming up with the Open University, Delft University of Technology and Health Campus The Hague to bring you even more knowledge than we offer on our own.

Programme

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the activities:

  • Try your hand at programming with and without AI.
  • Learn about the climate in a real casino game.
  • Take part in a mock trial and explore how sentencing decisions are made.
  • See real bones and how archaeologists go about their work.
  • View the world through a new lens.
  • Attend mini lectures on health, climate and government topics.

More programme details coming soon!

This is just a glimpse of a special collaboration: in January, we are opening a new building in the centre of The Hague that we will share with the Open University, Delft University of Technology, the LUMC and the Universities of the Netherlands. The Weekend of Science offers a first look at this unique knowledge and research cluster.
